At this time of year we start to look towards the time when we will need to bring the Dexter’s inside for winter. To make them easier to handle we give the maternity wing of our herd a few handfuls of grain every few days.
This is the first day we’ve tried and only 15 or so out of the 60 in these fields came. It’ll be interesting to see if the next time there is a lot more to come.
A few of these ladies are still to calve you can see by the size of the rib cage! These are mainly fully grown Dexter cows that have had a number of calves. You get a good perspective of their diminutive size in this video. #dextercattle#cattle#dexter
